Hello all,
This is just a quick email to keep everyone updated with a busy Autumn and Winter!
Robin Hood - Pantomime
Rehearsals are well underway and scripts are down! Tickets are now on sales, see our website for more details!
We have setup days coming up, on the following dates, it’s always lovely to see as many people there as possible, even if you’re not in the cast or crew this year!
Saturday 22nd November - 10:00am to 3:00pm - First Painting Day
We’ll be setting up the back flats and getting the first coats and drawings down on our set.
Saturday 29th November - 9:00am to 5:00pm - Second Painting Day
After first drawings and base layers the week before, we’ll be doing a bit more detail and seeing everything start to shape up.
Saturday 13th December - 9:00am to 5:00pm - Stage & Painting
On our third setup day, we’ll be building the stage extension, finishing off the sets and building props.
Saturday 27th December - 9:00am to 2:00pm - Tech Setup
Building the changing rooms, setting up lighting, getting the green room ready and making the hall feel ready for performances!
Summer Production 2026 - The Importance of Being Earnest
We’ll be auditioning for our next production on Sunday 11th January 2026, 1:30pm to 3:30pm at the Village Hall. Performances will be on the following dates:
Friday 15th May 2026
Saturday 16th May 2026
Friday 22nd May 2026
Saturday 23rd May 2026
Unfortunately, due to child employment laws only actors who have left secondary school will be able to audition for this production.
Anyone unfamiliar with the show, it’s a comedy by Oscar Wilde, you can find full versions of the show on YouTube as it’s out of copywrite (I recommend the version filmed at the Roundabout in 2011, posted on YouTube by the American Musical Theatre Archives!)
For further details, please reach out to Callum on shawburyvillageplayers@outlook.com, or catch him at a rehearsal for Robin Hood.
Quizzes!
Our monthly quizzes at the village hall are going well and are well attended, thanks to all who are turning out to support us.
We have only one more quiz night this year, on Friday 28th November, doors open 7:00pm to start at 7:30pm. To see the year off, Will is taking the reigns again this month for another great quiz.
If anyone is interested in hosting one of our quizzes next year, please let us know by emailing shawburyvillageplayers@outlook.com. We host these on the last Friday of each month (except December), unless it clashes with a production. If there are any months you know you won’t be able to do, let us know, and we’ll work out which month to schedule anyone interested in for!
Many thanks again for everyone’s support this year! See you all soon!
